Some people find their passion. Others bake their way into it. I found mine in the kitchen—creating treats that fit my goals without sacrificing taste. With 15+ bodybuilding shows under my belt and over a decade coaching women on health and nutrition, I know macros. I’ve tracked them, taught them, and lived by them. So when I say most “high protein” products don’t deserve that label, I mean it. My journey started with a disaster that had me laughing for hours – the first protein brownies I made were a mile high because I used way too much baking powder. I was so embarrassed they immediately went into the trash. But that failure sparked curiosity.

Every Saturday, I spread countless ingredients across my counter, experimenting with what would rise properly, produce the perfect texture, and actually taste good – all while keeping them low fat, low calorie, and high protein. Step by step, ingredient by ingredient, I perfected recipes that are genuinely high protein – with 16+ grams per piece. Then my brother James came on board, bringing 20 years of culinary expertise to what I’d built from the inside out. Nutrition meets technique. That combination is what you taste. Protein Treat Queen is female-founded, family-owned, and built on a simple belief: you shouldn’t have to choose between your goals and food you actually love.

The story behind

Protein Treat Queen

Coming from a decade in bodybuilding and competing in 15+ shows macro-tracking comes second nature at this point in life. After my last show at 39 years old I decided it's time to hang up the heels and prioritize my health. The lifestyle was ingrained in me, I wasn't giving up on my goals rather pivoting and teaching others everything I had learned so I could help them reach their goals.

Here's the deal, I love the lifestyle. I love how it makes me feel. Strong, energized, fueled but that didn't mean I wanted to fully give up a sweet treat from time to time. When you've played the game of macro-matching for years on end you start to get creative. Sheesh you can make zucchini taste like dessert if you wanted to.

I tried a few pre-mixed "high protein" brownie brands but let's be real they weren't high protein enough! Next batch, I mixed in whey protein isolate and came out with brownies hard as a  brick. I added A LOT of baking powder to the next batch and they rose a mile high but tasted awful. I'm an all in type of gal and can't stop until it's just right.

Every Saturday my kitchen became a baking lab. I was somewhat obsessed researching recipes, ingredients, and interactions. I finally nailed it! High protein brownies and bread that tasted sweet and fit into the plan perfectly. I've been eating protein treats pre and post workout for nearly two years and continue to add muscle and live in a lifestyle lean body. If anyone can attest to the ingredients and macro breakdown it's my partner, Brandon. A former fitness model, physique competitor, highly regarded accredited nutritionist and educator. If they fit in his plan, they can fit in anyone's plan! He's the real inspiration behind this all.

One thing led to another and people were quickly requesting my recipes. However, not everyone wanted to bake! Fair enough, I use whole ingredients and multiple gluten-free flours to keep these macros on point and easy to digest. Not everyone has enough time or patience to bake up a batch. People started requesting delivery but I was tapped! If I was going to put something out to the world I wanted to make sure it showed up to them like it turns out in my kitchen.

Little did the world know there was someone very close to me who had 20+ years in the culinary industry as an Executive Chef. The collaboration everyone needed but no one saw coming. My brother, James Karlson stepped in to find a commercial kitchen and make the magic happen!

Protein Treat Queen was never just about the treats.

It’s Proof.

It started as a way to make hitting my protein goals feel good instead of like a chore. It turned into something bigger, proof that you can have something sweet and still hit your goals, and proof that a vision only needs one thing to become real: you, deciding to go for it.

First day in the gym. First week of tracking honestly. First loaf shipped across the country. Different starting lines, same courage.

You don’t fail when you try. You just find out what you’re capable of.
